If your iPhone refuses to power up, don’t panic. Here are several steps you can try to bring it back to life:
-
Start by charging the battery
It might seem obvious, but your iPhone could simply be out of power. Plug it into a charger and let it sit for at least 30 minutes before trying to turn it on again. -
Try a force restart
If the screen stays black, perform a force restart. On older models, press and hold the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons simultaneously. On iPhone X and newer, press and hold Volume Down and Sleep/Wake until the Apple logo appears. -
Check for software updates via computer
Sometimes, a software issue prevents the device from booting. Connect your iPhone to a computer with iTunes (or Finder on macOS) and follow the prompts to check for and install any available updates. -
Restore your iPhone if necessary
If updating doesn’t help, you may need to restore the device to factory settings. Again, connect it to a computer and follow the instructions in iTunes or Finder.
Keep in mind: restoring will erase all data, so make sure you’ve backed up your important files beforehand. -
Reach out to Apple Support
If none of the above steps work, it’s time to contact Apple Support. The issue might be hardware-related, such as a faulty battery or internal component, and may require professional repair or replacement.
